Finally Friday Wrap Up
November 3, 2017
So it has been a long week. My vacation kicked off this past Monday but we were not in the position to leave yet. We finished up the house on Wednesday and pulling out on Thursday. Today I'm blogging from the front seat of the truck while hubby drives of to the land of enchantment and hatch chilies! We managed to get the house in rental condition and whittled down our belongings to only those things that would fit in the trailer. We swapped out our anchors for wheels and we're going to try living minimally.
With that, I want to share you with you our completed project on the house. I think it turned out really well.
So there she is. Ready to be rented. Here's a link to the property management company who are taking care of the details for me. Their photos are fantastic!
I'm so excited to be headed to the southwest. I can't wait to share my photos with you. It is going to be an amazing journey!

Witchy Wednesday - And It Continues to Thin
October 25, 2017
This week for my Witchy post, I wanted to share a couple of pictures that I have taken around the house. Since we started the rehab the spirits have been restless.
Saturday I was doing some yard clean up and I had encounters with several spirits. Usually when rehab begins or when you start work on a house the spirits let you know. Miss Rose is no exception. She lived in the house for years, surviving 2 husbands. I have seen them walk around the yard before. We are also directly in line to the march on Goldsboro during the Civil War so needless to say we have a lot of activity. This week with the veil thinning, the activity has been over the top.
Here are a few photos of my area this week. What do you think?
This is our hallway. The master bedroom is to the right of the hall at the end. We had to hang a "portal" mirror there to stop the mischief that was happening when we first moved into the house. Since I removed the portal the activity has been really strong. What do you think?
This is a shot of the lot looking towards the road. The last owner of the property had her husband die in the middle of the night. While we have been parked here, we have had our dogs just randomly start barking for no reason. I have sat outside and I can feel him walking here. I'm getting my apples ready. I won't take his space, but I do want him to be at peace.
How is your Samhain coming along? What's your month looking like? Feel free to share your photos!

Witchy Wednesday - Thinning of the Veil
October 18, 2017
Usually by this time I have the ancestor altar in full switch. Candles, updated photos, flowers. Usually I have my photos taken and submitted to altar projects and I'm completely set for Samhain. This year is proving to be an exception. With the remodel of the house and our plans to move things have taken a turn for the "Huh?". (laughing) I may even start experimenting with vlogging. I have been working with the video a bit more and I think I may look to test that out as we start making more progress for our move.
Over the last two weeks we have slowly sold off the majority of what we own. We are living full time in the RV now and getting set in our routine. My ancestor altar is only inches away from me every day now, instead of being across the room in my office. I have no pictures or flowers. Just a box of incense and a cat from time to time. Meanwhile, I think I have been more in touch with spirits over this time period than any other time in my life. With all the construction in the house it is a buzz with activity. Yesterday a closet door swung open while I was talking to Eli.
We have so much more work on the house to do and with me working full time, I'm not sure that I'll have the ability to do much more than seeing my altar and thinking of them. Sometimes you have more, sometimes less.
What are you doing to honor the dead this year?
I'm already having so much contact I'm really looking forward for any messages this year. I plan to sit and actively listen over the next two weeks to see what is coming. I am having more vivid dreams which leads me to believe there's someone out there wanting to chat. Hopefully I'll have a visit.
Looking forward to what life has in store for me. Changes they are a coming.

Witchy Wednesday - Practical Magic Part 3
September 13, 2017
This week we're looking at part three of Practical Magic (Kindle) by Nikki Van De Car. Instead of a traditional review I thought I would take the next few weeks to go into each of the chapters with you at my first read as opposed to reading the entire book and then giving a review. You can find several of her publications at Running Press.
Part Three of this book is titled Casual Clairvoyance. This section gives a high level overview of a few methods of divination. It reviews the Tarot, Palmistry, Astrology and Dream Interpretation. Keep in mind this is a beginner's book so the sections on each are short and provide a basic understanding of the art.
The Tarot section for example provides and overview of the suites, the major arcana and then two spreads. A basic three card (past, present and future) and what the author calls a Guidance Spread. I did a quick search on the net and couldn't find a reference to the Guidance Spread. Basically it is a nine card spread that is outlined in the book. While not the most in-depth reading spread I have seen, I think it is a great start for a beginner. If you're interested in this spread, you'll need to buy her book.
This is a brief video of a three card spread.
I am by no means an expert on the Tarot and I recommend that you reach out to a Tarot professional in your area or check out my sister Kallan's page for more information on Tarot and Totem readings.
Here are a couple videos on some of the other divination methods she discusses.
Dream Inpterpretation
Palmstry
Astrology
As I mention in previous posts, now is your chance to enter to win the Practical Magic Prize pack, which includes the book I reviewed for this series, along with the matching mini spell kit and a copy of Feng Crochet.
Be sure to come back and Tweet the giveaway each day for more entries into the hat.
Facebook, Blogger and Rafflecopter are in no way associated with this contest. Please click the link to login or enter with your email address below. I will announce the winner after they have been notified!
Disclaimer: I do not practice Wicca. I am not an expert on any of the traditions of Wicca. I am giving this information as a review of a book written by Nikki Van De Car. Feel free to message the page with questions, however do remember that I am a witch. Without a deity and without an specific tradition.

Witchy Wednesday - Practical Magic - Part 2
September 6, 2017
This week we're looking at part two of Practical Magic (Kindle) by Nikki Van De Car. Instead of a traditional review I thought I would take the next few weeks to go into each of the chapters with you at my first read as opposed to reading the entire book and then giving a review. You can find several of her publications at Running Press.
Part two of the book is called Magic for the Weekend Wiccan. Again the author takes us to a lighthearted look at magic and paganism. Here I could see where some more dedicated practitioners might be offended by this approach. Good information is often loss because no one looks past the title. I encourage my readers to bypass the possible uneasiness of the section header and check out the actual meat of the book. While not necessary for an advanced witch I can see how this may be used as an introduction into the magical world. Remember not every Witch practices Wicca.
The weekend chapters offer a brief (limited) view of herbs. We all know there are entire books dedicated to herbs so to expect this book to be a main resource would be misleading. There is a part on making tinctures, oils and poultices however I would again use this as only an introduction.
Our next section is on plant based magic. There are two pages of listed plants and in does point out that you should avoid belladonna. This is an extremely good idea. As this is a beginner book I would be surprised to see any other reference to it here. Frankly too many people do not take the warnings of herbalist seriously and end up getting sick. Herbs are nothing to muck around with and shouldn't be something that a beginner starts with. Interest in herbalism is a process. I recommend beginning with YouTube and find some great teachers to follow.
Next the author reviews the Wheel of the Year. These are are the holidays that are celebrated by many of the Pagan people. Not everyone celebrates these holidays but most have some sort of festival/ritual honoring the lunar and solar cycles. The author provides a brief history of each of the days including ways to celebrate and other correspondences such as the herb, color and stones for each.
The final part of this chapter talks directly about magic. The section header is called White Magic. My brain was like ... Hey, what?? No! Just stop, there's no such thing as white mag......
Then the author nipped that in the bud in the very first sentence. I was glad to see that. She boldly stated the fact, Magic is magic. It has no color. YES! Thank you, Nikki!
She goes on to break down, albeit briefly, the types of spells out there and even provides a simple spell for beginners to follow. I was pleased to see how she handled this section. It could have truly been a train wreck.
Next week I'll review Section 3 on Causal Clairvoyance and then wrap up this review. Remember you can grab your copy by clicking the links above and I will be compiling a giveaway from all the comments on this blog series and I'll do a giveaway with this book, the matching kit and another book called Feng Crochet all by the same author.

Witchy Wednesday - Practical Magic - Chapter 1 - Part 2
August 30, 2017
This week we're looking at the second part of part one of Practical Magic (Kindle) by Nikki Van De Car. Instead of a traditional review I thought I would take the next few weeks to go into each of the chapters with you at my first read as opposed to reading the entire book and then giving a review. You can find several of her publications at Running Press.
The author continues part one by talking to us about Crystals and Auras. Being a wire weaver I spend a great deal of time working with different types of crystals. This book offers a list of some of the more common crystals, their chakra association as well as their most common uses. An example would be Amethyst for calm and Citrine for success and money. Though not mentioned in this book, one of my favorite stones is a Labradorite. Labs are considered to be a stone of transformation and magic. (source) It helps in reducing stress and anxiety as well as intuition and psychic development.

Here is one of my favorite Labradorite pieces. At the time of publication this piece as well as many others are available on my website.
She also talks about how to choose and activate a crystal. For years owning my shop I have often been asked to "charge" a pendant or pendulum for clients. There are several methods for prepping crystals. Often you'll want to start with a good cleansing. Several methods include leaving them on a window sill in the light of the full moon or burying them in the ground over night to soak up the earth's energy. Choose a method that works best for you and remember, if you don't have a yard improvise. Get a little pot and put some potting soil in it and set it in the a cleansed area of your space. One popular method is to dip your crystals in a running stream or river. While I'm lucky enough to live right next to a river not everyone has that luxury. A few alternatives would be to request some river water from someone living near a river and then simply pour that water out over your crystals or use sage smoke to symbolically pour the smoke (water) over/around your crystals. We have to remember that witches worked with what they had on hand. When all else fails, improvise.
The remainder of part one is dedicated to Auras. It reviews the basic layers and colors associated with aura reading. Auras are basically colored fields that begin around two inches from the skin and continue outward. There are seven separate aura fields and according to this author the color ranges from red to white. With three shades at each color level. For example this author suggests that orange indicates a healthy, vibrant personality. Red orange is confidence, yellow orange is creative, intelligent perfectionist and muddy orange is indicating this person is in a "clogged" stage and is unable to move forward. To cleanse these auras she refers back to the chakra section and recommends alignment to ease/erase these blockages.
I found this video related to auras and thought it might be useful in learning about this process. This video is not related to the book.
I became really interested in learning about aura reading after I noticed that I could look at people and see things about them. Things they were hiding inside themselves. Just after my 20th birthday I noticed that when I would walk into stores I could see people who were abusive. I could actually see them hitting someone or hurting others as they walked past me in the store. It became very frightening so I started "turning it off" as much as I could. To this day when ever possible I wear sunglasses so no one can see my eyes when I look at them. When I see their secrets and we make eye contact they know I see their secrets. I decided to just not look at people. Today, I offer reading services on photos instead of in person readings. Still being that close to someone and being able to see what lies below is a bit scary for me. One person a few years ago, showed me a picture of her husband's mistress but didn't tell me who she was. She asked for a reading on her. When I told her that the girl was very much in love but was being lied to by the man she loved she person got very upset. Not too long afterwards she ended our friendship. I can only assume it was because my words hit too close to home for her. Around that same time, I referred to what I was doing as aura reading. However after speaking with a very gifted reader I know now that this gift is very different from aura reading. I cannot quite figure it out yet and will continue to work to figure it out. (link)

Remember you can grab your copy by clicking the links above and I will be compiling a giveaway from all the comments on this blog series and I'll do a giveaway with this book, the matching kit and another book called Feng Crochet all by the same author.

Witchy Wednesday - A Dunkin Witch
August 16, 2017
So I sit here today looking at the world from an entirely difference perspective. My mind thinks about all the plans I had in place at this point and realizes that things don't always go as planned. I think about what is around me here. Here in this physical place. Here in on this land. Where my feet touch the dirt. I found this house while driving here on a house hunting trip some 11 years ago. Spotted a sign next to a road and literally only walk around the outside of the fence before deciding to buy it. That was before the dogs or the deities.
The house ended up being part of a town that through research I found out was founded by my ancestors. The riverbanks there at Seven Springs held in my family for some time. I learned that just 1/2 mile down the road, a cousin who was raised with me like a brother lost his life. The house sits at a cross roads. We bought the house though the lot was small via email and phone from California without ever stepping inside. From the first day we were visited by spirits. Though the years the house has changed. We have changed. Our focus, our drive and even our own personae has changed. Changed for the better.
I had thought I would be saying farewell to these walls and this land. You see, everything isn't sunshine and roses here. We have a rough political system. We could use more opportunity. I see roads with dead ends that have pretty awful memories for me. Reminders of a less than perfect childhood filled with anger and mostly pain. I was looking forward to moving away from those daily reminders of things I would prefer to forget. It turns out that sometimes you have no choice but to face demons head on.
You have to stand up and claim your post. Your land. You have to walk in and say, this is my space. No one else has power here. This is my energy and my life. You have the power to allow others in or out. You are control. You are the magic and you are the power.
I always joked to others that one day, a long time from now, kids would talk about that old crazy witch down by the river. They would tell stories of sneaking through my yard or seeing me out in the illuminated in the light of the full moon burying something, probably a jar! I'll be a river witch, sitting on the banks collecting mosses and frogs. Even thinking of myself as a river witch makes me a little uncomfortable. Though a Pisces through and through, water in my face is not something I fancy. I believe my fellow witches out there can attest to how a dunkin witch is a witch having a very bad day. (reference)
So what is all this about? What is this crazy old river witch talking about? Only time will tell, deary. Only time will tell.
Till next time....

The Kyballion - Lost to Me - Witchy Wednesday
August 9, 2017
So over the last three weeks I have been working with learning the principals of the Kybalion. I have tried several different methods. I started out reading a book and boy was that a mess. I tried to listen to it via audio books. You can find a chapter by chapter listing here.
Pretty soon I began to feel like I was in a Charlie Brown cartoon.
Next I found several different "teachers" if you will on YouTube to try to understand the message here. Here is just a few of the thousands of hits that were returned on this search.
While I intended this blog series to outline the seven principals and then give my interpretation of them, the best I have right now is:
I just don't get it. Maybe it is smarter than me, maybe I'm not at my spiritual level to fully understand this but for now, it is complete confusion. And frankly I really tried to get it. If anyone would like to reach out to add a bit of clarity I am completely open to hearing your thoughts on this but for now, I'm just setting this aside.
My path has pretty much wondered away from deity worship and leads back more towards science, energy and learning about alchemy. Perhaps this is why I'm having issues with it. The repeated references to God and so forth are a bit of challenge for me.
In any event those following at home, please feel free to have a hand at reading this and feel free to come back and post your comments or even message me directly. I'm intrigued at how many have re-shared, re-blogged and vlogged about this topic yet it is still so difficult to understand.
After having a listen to these things I finally found this video. Not related to our topic but really actually higher than our topic. The statement - everyone consumes more than what they need. YES. This. To me this is so much more understanding than these other videos.
Till next time...
Sosanna

The Kybalion - A Study Series for Witchy Wednesday - Principles 3
August 2, 2017
"The Principles of Truth are Seven; he who knows these, understandingly, possesses the Magic Key before who touch all the Doors of the Temple fly open." ~The Kybalion.
The Hermetic Philosophy is based on seven principals. I'm going to focus on the third this week. The Principle of Vibration.
"Nothing rests; everything moves; everything vibrates" ~The Kybalion
Sound is vibration. Light is vibration. We are vibration. Nothing is permanent. Even death is a channel or a vibration to another place.
We want to stay in one place but everything changes. I sit back and listen to this and think how simple this is but then it is so complex. Sometimes just when I think I have it figured out I hear another line or verse and then boom, I'm back at the beginning.
I found it really interesting how the separation from News, TV, adding exercise and eating meat help raise your vibrations. Hubby mentioned how calm I seemed to be lately. This resonated with me.
What do you think, what is permanent? What is vibration?

"The Principles of Truth are Seven; he who knows these, understandingly, possesses the Magic Key before who touch all the Doors of the Temple fly open." ~The Kybalion.
The Hermetic Philosophy is based on seven principals. I'm going to focus on the second this week. The Principle of Correspondence.
"As Above, so below; as below, so above." ~The Kybalion
One way to think about this is to think about our solar system and the structure of an atom. In several of the videos and books I researched for this post, this was by far the most understandable example. Our universe has the same structure of an atom. The same forces run each just on a very different scale.
My very first contact with this concept was the tree of life. The branches above mimic the tree roots below. I was so taken with this that I tattooed myself with this image. As the tree puts out oxygen, our lungs take in the oxygen whose structure corresponds with that of the tree.

"The Principles of Truth are Seven; he who knows these, understandingly, possesses the Magic Key before who touch all the Doors of the Temple fly open." ~The Kybalion.
The Hermetic Philosophy is based on seven principals. I'm going to focus on the first this week. The Principle of Mentalism.
The All is Mind; The universe is Mental." ~The Kybalion
So what does this mean? Everything is thought. Thoughts lead to events. We create where we are in our world with our thoughts. Even if it is subconscious it is still thought.
As I started reading this part of the book I went out to the web to get some insight from others who might be a bit more informed on the topic than I. Here are a few videos I found.
The second one listed here was to me, the most understandable. I agree that it is difficult to understand the process of thinking. What thoughts do you have about the Principal of Mentalism?

The Kybalion - A Study Series for Witchy Wednesday
July 12, 2017
So this week I thought I would take a look at a book I picked up recently. It's called The Kybalion - A Study of the Hermetic Philosophy of Ancient Egypt and Greece. By Three Initiates.
The lips of wisdom are closed, except to the ears of Understanding. - The Kybalion
Chapter one takes us through the physical locations of this philosophy and shows how it is found in many organized religions today. It talks about the sharing of the doctrines passed from teacher to student over the years to avoid persecution in the middle ages. The exact meaning of the Kybalion however was lost. The first chapter makes a clear distinction between the author's opinion and the direct text from the Kybalion. I like to see that in a book. I want to know what the actual source is not just what the author's opinion of it is.
"Where fall the footsteps of the Master, the ears of those ready for his Teaching open wide." - The Kybalion.
According to this, when you're ready to learn (to hear) the teachings the laws of attraction will bring you together with a teacher. Are you ready?
Here's a link to the audio book that is under public domain on YouTube. You can also download the file here.
I'm going to spend the next few weeks reading this book and sharing my thoughts here. Feel free to jump the comments and add your commentary or link to your own blog with your journey through these same pages.

Witchy Wednesday - Owning Your Energy
July 5, 2017
So many times we walk around in this world allowing our energy to run a muck.
We forget that when we send out certain types of energy we attract certain types back to us. You've heard the old saying misery loves company? Well if you walk around the world miserable eventually you'll find someone to join in your misery and soon all that you'll have around you is negativity.
Ever had a day (week, month or year) that just seemed to be filled with issue after issue? One "bad" thing after another happening to you? Check your energy. What are you putting out there? Are you a gloomy Gus? Are you a negative Nancy? Yeah I said that.
The great thing at this point is that you see that pattern. You can recognize that you need to take control of the space you're in and the energy you bring into that space. Learning some simple techniques you'll be able to remove that negativity and bring back some prosperity into your world.
Here is a really good info video on Smudging.
If you really want to get an in-depth course. Head over to Tree of Life Apothecary's Etsy shop and pick up Sage Advice. I highly recommend it.
The main way to get yourself together and JUST DO IT.
All joking aside, I see so many magical people sitting back and letting the world happen to them. You have to take control of the situation and take steps to improve or direct your energy to the correct avenue. If you want to learn a new spell, pick up a book and dedicate some time to learning it. If you want to stop those nasty little accidents from occurring around your house, take a few minutes and cleanse your space. You control this space. You can "allow" it to continue to ruled by negativity or you can "allow" positive, prosperous and happy energy to live there. It is all up to you.
Sing and dance with me ya'll.

Witchy Wednesday - Caring for Others
June 28, 2017
A few weeks ago we talked about Self Care - This week we're going to talk about caring for others. By this I what I am referring to is inclusiveness.
Over the last few weeks I have see an increase in the number of people deciding that they needed to voice their opinion on the inclusion of Trans Women in Female only spaces. Myself, being a Cis-gendered woman I hesitate to speak directly on the experiences of Trans women. I can however, comment what it looks like from my point of view living in a life as a SOFFA. First let's define some words.
Now, over the last few weeks I have seen some pretty ugly statements related to Trans Women. I have even seen individuals describe them as "Trans Identified Men". That is completely offensive. The base of the argument for not allowing Trans Women into Women only identified spaces is related to the incorrect belief that Trans Women are not women. Or that Trans Women are somehow just men who are going through extreme measures to erase women. Let's look at the process that a Trans Woman experiences when transitioning.
1. Mental Health Counseling - usually a requirement
2. Living as female for over a year
3. Hormone Therapy (which causes impotence)
4. Surgical procedures to turn the penis into a vagina
5. Surgical procedures to add breasts
6. Facial reconstruction
7. Electrolysis
Now, don't get me wrong, I think that people who attack you can go through some pretty long measures to do that but do you really, honestly in your heart of hearts think that a Cis gendered man, is going to go through all of that, simply to get into a women's only space and says ... Nah nah naha nah - I'm here in your space??? Seriously?
During these debates over the last few months. I've seen so much hatred towards Trans Women. They are blamed for the assaults that women experienced earlier in their lives. They are accused of "forcing" lesbians to date them pre-op and much much more. One such exchanged can be found on this Facebook Thread - Trigger warning for Trans-phobic Language. LINK
Sometimes I think that these types of discussions are funny. Simply because it is a bunch of Cis gendered people sitting around discussing if Trans people deserve to be in their space. I mean when you think about it you could change the subject of this and add any power group in slot A and any oppressed group in slot B and there you have it. Sadly this is coming from Cis Gendered women. This is sad because Cis Woman and Trans women are fighting the same fight. Unfortunately the powers that be have managed to put fear into the hearts of Cis Women and turned them against the Trans women in an attempt to keep their hold over them.
Trans Women get raped. Trans Women get assaulted. Trans Women get discriminated against. And Trans Women die. Just like Cis Women. In 2016 27 Trans People were killed in the United States. The majority of whom were Trans Women of Color. (Link)
So what am I getting at? How does this related to my previous post regarding self care? Let's think about this for a second. When are we at our best? When are we actually good people? To me, the answer to that question is that we are better when we are a community. When we come together to protect each other. When we are a village that helps each person become stronger, happier and whole. So with our self care comes the care for others. We need to step outside ourselves and understand that we are not the be all end all of this world. We are merely a part of the puzzle. We can choose to help create the big picture or we can get lost and leave a void.
What can you do? How can you help?
Many times I see dialog of Cis gendered people discussing Trans people. That's the first problem. We as Cis gendered people need to bring awareness to the cause without taking away the voices or speaking over Trans people. This isn't about if you should allow a Trans person to use a public restroom with you. The question is should a person be allowed to use a rest room. Change the focus of the statement from yourself to the issue at hand. You can also get involved. Go down to your local LGBTQI center and volunteer. Get involved in a book club, volunteer to staff a booth or table at a Pride event. Hand out flyers or help register voters at an LGBTQI Rally.
Most importantly, the one thing that you can do that will help is to listen. Listen with the intent of understanding not with the intent of responding. Trans-phobia, Homo-phobia and Racism all come from the same place. They are all based on fear and ignorance. Take a moment to learn about others. Embrace our differences. Enjoy each other. Listen. You may find out we're not all that different.
We cannot claim to be one with the planet and one with the spirit while we continue to step on the backs of others. Take a moment, reflect. What are you doing to your people? Would you like it if it was done to you?

- Cisgender - Having a gender identity that matches the gender assigned at birth. The opposite of Transgender.
- SOFFA - Significant Others, Family, Friends and Allies of Trans People.
- FTM - Female to Male also Trans Man.
- MTF - Male to Female also Trans Woman
- Gender Neutral - Not definitive to a gender.
- Non-Binary - Having a gender that does not fit into the two gender norm.

Witchy Wednesday - What is Magic?
June 21, 2017
So what is magic? If I had a dollar for every time I had been asked that question...
I have been writing about magic for quite some time. One of the things I like to use to break it down really simply to others is that magic crosses over religious guidelines. It crosses into Santeria, Catholicism, Wicca and Witchcraft. As a direct comparison think about a prayer. Prayers are a staple in most organized religion. To me, the real difference is that while prayers are a plea to a higher power to "fix" something for you, a spell is taking matters into your own hands and putting out the energy to make the changes yourself.
Here are two photos taken one after the other during "Rite of her Sacred Fires", a worldwide rite to the Goddess Hecate.
Healing for example is something that every path seeks to provide to their followers. For a millennia you can find healing spells/potions/prayers in all forms. For example recently some of my work was the focus of a post related to the healing powers of copper. You can see the full article here. The same can be said for related magic such as fertility, love and yes even revenge. I have always believed that a witch that cannot curse cannot heal. In watching some of our modern day practitioners some could learn a think or two about cursing and remaining silent!
This photo was taken as part of a binding ritual. I am not the only one to call upon Hecate for banishing or cursing type magic. You can find a great article about it here.
So what is magic? Magic is something that comes from within. It is the ability to recognize and harness the internal energy you have and use that energy to change things in the physical world. Magic can use candles and totems. It can use herbs and flowers. It can use crystals and stones, but all of those things would simply be objects without your ability to guide your energy with these objects and create that magical connection.
Take a moment. Connect with that energy and focus on making a change. Focus on sending that healing or aiding in a prosperity ritual. Take that time to send out that energy and focus on that change that is required.

Witchy Wednesday - Practice Self Care
June 14, 2017
Good Morning! Happy Wednesday. This week I want to talk about a ritual that many of us (not just witches) forget about. We spend our days creating, working, caring for others and we often neglect our own self care. We don't see it as an important part of witchcraft, which actually just fascinates me. Our bodies, our minds and our energy are the main components of a spell. Anyone can buy a candle. Anyone can toss together some herbs, but your clients come to you. They have access to the same herbal shops that you do. They have access to the same candle suppliers. But still your inbox is at capacity with requests for your touch. Your hand. Your magic.
Why do they come to you? Many times I am told I am abrasive. I am militant in my support of LGBTQI. I am hated for telling the truth. I am ridiculed for not toeing the line, yet my readings are always requested and my protection amulets, healing and defensive pieces fly off the shelves. Why is that? Why am I not laid up with maladies and suffering from shortages of money or supplies?
I can tell you why.
I believe that each of us has a duty to create a space that allows ourselves to flourish. We need to be the force that creates this magic. We can only do this by caring for ourselves as we care for others. Now, that doesn't mean if you don't get two shits about yourself and you treat others the same that you're going to be successful. That isn't how it works. I believe that when you take care of yourself, which I will define later, you open your body and mind up as a conduit for positive energy. Success finds you. And to care for yourself means not only taking time to reset, but also to recharge your spirit. Take a walk in the woods, go sit the by the river. Read a book. Any action that takes you to a place of happiness. That is what we want to replicate in the world.
I believe that I always have the money I need when I need it because I give of it so freely when I have extra. I believe that magic finds me because I give magic to others when I can. I go the extra step to support friends who are suffering or offer a hand when someone is in need. The universe sees that and sends those same things back to me when I need it.
When people wag their jaws and gossip about me, it only enhances my success. When they continue to attack me, I flourish. If you find yourself saying things like:
"Why does this always happen to me?"
"Why don't have I have any good luck?"
"Just my luck, failed again!"
Take a moment to do a real inventory of what you're sending out into the world. What energy are you putting out there? How is that energy coming home? Now I know what you're thinking, The Rule of Three, well, yeah maybe, kinda... OK not really. Yes, I do believe that what you send out comes home. I do believe that if you meddle with others there is the chance that a big whopping rude awakening could be in store for you. But I also believe that sometimes, shit happens and how you respond to that shit is determine what else shows its ugly head.
So what do you do? What is self care and how do you do it? Well, as I mentioned earlier, you can take a walk. Go for a run. Have a bath. Do any of the things that help you feel more connected to yourself. You have the power within you to create a recharging station where ever you are. Take that time and get yourself back up to 100% before taking on any additional projects or work.
You'll be better for others and for yourself in the long run.

Witchy Wednesday - Head Witch in Charge

Moving on to my next witch, I have to say that she is certainly on top of her game. Not one to shy away from a challenge (or a fight for that matter) Loren Morris is one crafty witch. She shares my love of sculpting and putting people in their place. She is witty, strong willed and determined to do what is right for her self, body and family. She has a wonderful business called Primitive Witchery where she peddles her amazing wares. She can also be found on Etsy, Instagram and the web. We have been friends for quite a while now and I can tell you, you will never be able to get enough of her wit and charm. If you have a chance head over and check out her pages. You won't be disappointed.
In a world where so many people tear each other down, I wanted to stop for a minute and build someone up. I wanted to take this opportunity to call attention to bass ass witches getting the job done. Now I challenge you. Go out and find a couple of people to praise. Give them a shout out for all the do and most off all tell them what they mean to you. Life is short. Play hard & tell'em you love'em.
Blessings!

Witchy Wednesday - What's Love got to do with It?
May 31, 2017
A week doesn't pass by without the request from either this blog or via my website with a request for a love spell. Love magic is tricky business. You'll find some (like myself) who do not dabble in the affairs of love.
There are however a lot of practitioners out there who will certainly hook you up with a love spell. One books specifically - Love Magic by Lilith Dorsey offers the reader 250 spells and potions to help get your love life off the ground. The contents page tells us that we can expect the author to cover everything from Happiness and self love through marriage and fertility.
While not exactly Love Potion #9 on page 210 of the book the author assures us that working with the Elysian Fields Ritual will "bring about blissful dreams of erotic pleasure." Certain something worth reading.
The book isn't simply filled with love spells, there are quite a few spells to limit or remove unwanted attraction as well. (Which is oddly ironic in a book of love magic spells) For example we have the Gone and Away Spell & Downfall of Social Media on page 203 that intend to fix you right up when things have gone awry.
I don't tend to practice love spells for others. But I can give some advice on what I did for myself in my personal situation. There is the need to write things down and repeat them. There is also a bit of focusing of energy. But probably not exactly as you expected. Relationships are not fixer uppers. We have to be happy with the person we expect to be in a relationship with exactly as they are today. In my case my partner and I sat down and created separate lists. My list was what I expected of them. What I was ok with. And the same in reverse. We sat down together and compared our lists. After we went though each item one by one discussing them and understanding really what our expectations were from this relationship we were able to move forward. I sit here across from them 15 years later with only 2 fights under our belt, both feeling loved and 100% supported in every way. While you can set your intentions with some herbs, roots and flowers, one should always include the most magical ingredient around. Communication.
...after all, you'll never find your hero if you're not honest with what you're really looking for.
