Ethereal Grind - Resin Tumblers

Eli has been hard at work creating some amazing resin tumblers. These are one of a kind art pieces that are also functional hot and cold beverage containers. I wanted to take a moment to share some of his fantastic work.  You can find these and many more on our website.

Here are a couple of videos we created of his work.

Ethereal Grind - Tumblers

I thought I would create a few blog posts related to the things we're working on at Ethereal Grind. What's Ethereal Grind, you ask.  Ethereal Grind is our latest step in my goal to open a metaphysical store in my retirement. We're working now to create our online presence and will be looking to attend festivals and events as the state begins opening up since Covid.

I wanted to share some of the goodies that we've been creating. This post will be dedicated to Elijah's amazing tumblers.  These are hot/cold 24 oz cups with a plastic lid that have some pretty amazing artwork applied to them and then are coated with resin. Elijah completes then by hand and drips the resin on in a fine layer to achieve almost miraculous results.

But, what is it they say about pictures??  Yeah, let me hush and show you what I'm talking about.

I hope you enjoy this look at our tumblers.  Remember to head over and check out the shop.  Custom work available, housewares, ritual tools and more!

Namaste
Sosanna

This consists of a brief introduction to the signs with an overview of each and then with perforated pages that can be torn out, framed and hanged as wall art. Each of the pages has a glossy finish and there are three styles to choose from within the book.  The overview provided is written in an easy to read format and I believe is simple and easy to follow.

Overall an interesting take on creating a book out of artist contributions for the purpose of tearing out and hanging on a wall.

Here are some of the designs included.

I was a little surprised to see this book in for a review. There are no words at all.  No introduction at all. Basically this is just a book of coloring pages dedicated to the zodiac sign Scorpio.  There are 24 card stock pages that can be removed and colored by the reader. The designs are nice however I would have liked to see a little be of text around it.  Maybe something like the year in Scorpio or something of that nature. Over all a cute book to give as a gift.

Here are a few of the images.

To add to my growing list of Tarot and Oracle card reviews, the set I'm looking at today is completely different than any other I have encountered.  I am well aware of those who collect these cards for their artistic worth however, I have never seen a set quite like this.  I'll give you the low down, in just a bit.  First let's talk about the packaging.  Tarot cards generally come in some sort of box or enclosure that would allow the reader to keep the cards safe from harm.  Each set generally is accompanied by a book or pamphlet to instruct the reader on how the author intended the cards to be used. The Antique Anatomy Tarot is no exception.

The books is a soft cover book with a cover to match the beautifully illustrated cards. While there is no index, the author does provide is with a brilliantly illustrated contents section which leads into the introduction and a brief history of Tarot.  We're introduced to the Major and Minor Arcana, Numerology and Astrology of Tarot in the first few pages.  We are whisked through the elements of the tarot including a list of which cards fall into which elements and then leading into how color impacts a reading.

On pages 14 - 17 the author provides detailed information on how exactly to use the cards.  Journaling, spells work, dream interpretations, mediation and spreads are presented with instruction on how to move forward in their individual works.  One of the most important steps, in my opinion, and often overlooked by new readers is detailed in the section called "Caring for your Deck".  The author provides instructions on initiating, cleansing and storage of your deck.

The final chapter in the basics section is called (drum roll please)  The Spreads!  What we've all been waiting for. As with most Tarot decks, this author has also provided several spreads that are outlined in detail.  A single card draw, the Three Card Spread, the Moon Cycle Spread (this one was new to me) and finally the Celtic Cross spread. Each one with individual attention paid to the card location and name as well as a sentence or two about the placement and expectations for the reading.

The remainder of the book focuses on the cards themselves. This is the point when I call out the amazing illustrations on these cards. Sourced from creative commons works, these cards are suitably for framing.  Overall, an amazing set of cards which I totally recommend!

I'm going to start off with a review of the physical book.  In this day and age of e-Books I find that most publishers are skimping on the physical aesthetics of a print book.  Most are poorly bound or the pages lack luster.  The cover lacks definition and/or color and the art is pitiful.  That is NOT the case with this book.  This book is stunning.  The cover, although only two colors, is delightful. The front is decorated with the illustrative work of Jess Rotter.

I snapped a few photos of these images and man, they are fantastic.  As an out Lesbian married to a Trans-man I can tell you we do not see enough diversity in some of these books on love and relationships that cross my desk.  This one, however, is the exception.  I love the way this artist interpreted the signs and represented love across the board in such a way that, in my humble opinion, anyone can connect with.  This book is heavy too. A solid book with shiny gilded page ends that make for a wonderful feel.  If you are a person who loves to feel a strong book in your hands, this book is for you!

On to the contents!

The author takes us on a journey through each of the signs telling us the ins and outs (pun intended) to hooking up with each.  Taking my own sign, the author tell yous about the Piscean at their best and worst.  First impressions, flirting and the how each sign can connect with this mystical fish.

I did a quick check of course, comparing the signs of previous lovers and found that the author seems to be able to connect directly to the positive and negative aspects of each sign. Showing exactly how the ebb and flow of love and sex are intertwined.

Cross referencing the signs (Pisces and Virgo then Virgo and Pisces) shows the skill that the author avoids the easy copy and paste here and gives the dirt on working with each sign, from that sign's prospective. My partner and I have been together 17 years and this book was dead right on our relationship.  For example the author writes:

On the surface, Virgo may not seem as mystical as Pisces, the psychedelic fish, but this is vary from from the truth: Virgos are deep thinkers, profoundly concerned with finding inner truth, which is something these two very much have in common.

That is very much true in this relationship.  I loved every aspect of this book.  The artwork, the way the author weaves together the lives and loves of the signs.  They even include a poly relationship. So amazing to see.

I highly recommend this book for anyone who longs to see diversity displayed in all its rainbow glory on the pages of a horoscope book.  No more pretending to see people who look like us.  This book takes on a magical journey, and we want to go back again and again!
