A New Moon Ritual for Clearing and Calling In(Even If You’ve Got 15 Minutes and Zero Crystals)

The New Moon is a cosmic exhale.

It’s the quiet before the bloom — a sacred space for letting go of what no longer serves, and planting seeds for what you truly want.

You don’t need a full altar or perfect moon water to participate. You just need a clear intention and a little time to connect inward.

Here’s a simple New Moon ritual you can do tonight (or anytime the moon is dark and dreaming):

🕯️ Step-by-Step New Moon Ritual

You’ll need:

A candle (any color)

A journal or scrap paper

10–15 minutes of uninterrupted time

1. Center Yourself

Take three slow, deep breaths. Imagine the air moving through your body like a gentle tide. Feel your energy settle.

2. Release What’s Weighing You Down

Ask yourself: What am I ready to release?

Write down any habits, thought patterns, relationships, or energies that are taking up too much space.

Then (safely) burn the paper, bury it, or tear it up with intention.

As you do, say:

“I release what no longer serves. I clear space for what is meant for me.”

3. Call in What You Desire

Write down what you want to manifest. Be specific — not just “abundance,” but “a steady stream of income doing meaningful work.” Not just “peace,” but “a sense of safety in my own body.”

Hold the candle, close your eyes, and visualize it coming to life. Feel it like it’s already here.

Say aloud:

“I call in what aligns with my highest good. I am open, I am ready, I am whole.”

Cosmic Energy - Crossroads Oracle - Rev. Renee Sosanna Olson

This card is a beautiful reminder that your manifestations don’t work on a human deadline — they work on cosmic time. You’ve set the intention. Now let go of the grip and trust the process. The universe is listening, even when it feels quiet.

The 3 Spiritual Tools I Use Every Day(and Why You Probably Don’t Need 30 Crystals)

We’ve all seen the endless lists: 21 must-have herbs, 44 moon tools, 78 altar items you have to collect.

Let’s be honest — half of it ends up in a drawer.

Here’s the truth: you don’t need a closet full of supplies to be powerful. You need a few anchoring tools that resonate with you. That support you. That help you show up consistently and with intention.

Here are the three spiritual tools I reach for every single day — and why they work:

1. 🃏 Oracle Cards

There’s no better mirror than the cards. A daily pull sets the tone, reveals what’s stirring beneath the surface, and invites real reflection.

Oracle cards are more than paper and ink — they’re conversation starters with your spirit, your guides, your intuition. They don’t predict the future. They reveal the present. And that’s where real magic begins.

I pull a card every morning — sometimes just one, sometimes a spread — and it’s like checking the weather for my soul. What energy am I walking into? What lesson is trying to get my attention? What part of me needs care?

Here’s why I use them daily:

  1. They ground my practice. Even when I have five minutes, one card is enough to spark reflection or guide intention.

  2. They speak clearly. Both of my decks — the Crossroads Oracle and the River Witch Oracle — are designed with real, lived energy. No filler cards. Just messages that hit.

  3. They evolve with you. You’ll see different things in the same card depending on your mood, your questions, or even the season. That’s not inconsistency — that’s growth.

My Crossroads Oracle is inspired by Hecate and the choices, energies, and mysteries we encounter on the spiritual path. It’s divided into suits like Virtues, Elements, Energies, and Time — making it perfect for spreads that give depth and direction.

My River Witch Oracle connects to nature, emotion, and flow. It’s rooted in personal healing and movement through change — a favorite for shadow work, emotional insight, and creative guidance.

These aren’t mass-produced, algorithm-made cards. They’re handcrafted wisdom tools, drawn from devotion, experience, and ancestral magic — and they’re meant to become part of your practice, your altar, your story.

My Crossroads Oracle and River Witch Oracle were created to do exactly that.

They’re exclusive to my shop and designed with real-world wisdom, not just pretty art.

2. 📘 Digital Grimoires & eBooks

I keep a digital library of rituals, spells, correspondences, and guided meditations I’ve written over the years. These are living documents — I update them, annotate them, and pull from them constantly.

Want to start your own? Grab one of my ready-to-use eBooks and build from there.

There’s something undeniably magical about holding a leather-bound book… but let’s be real — when you’re in the middle of a spell, a ritual, or an emotional spiral, you need something you can actually use.

That’s where eBooks come in — and why I offer a wide selection of practical, immediately usable digital books crafted for witches, empaths, and spiritual seekers just like you.

Here’s why I use eBooks in my own practice — and why you might want to, too:

✨ Instant Access to Magic

Whether you’re mid-meltdown or mid-moon ritual, you don’t want to wait three days for delivery. My eBooks are available immediately upon purchase, so you can light that candle, open your grimoire, and get to work — now.

✨ Always with You

Print books are beautiful, but they stay on the shelf. E-books go where you go.

  • Access them on your phone, tablet, or laptop

  • Bookmark your favorite spells, meditations, or correspondences

  • Keep them in a private folder if you're not out-of-the-broom-closet yet

Your magic shouldn’t be limited by your bookshelf.

✨ Designed for Practice, Not Just Reading

These aren’t just rebranded blog posts in PDF form. Each eBook is crafted as a tool — with layouts and language designed to help you work through real-life spiritual challenges.

Whether it’s:

  • Shadow work

  • Moon rituals

  • Hecate devotionals

  • Chakra healing

  • Empath protection

  • Everyday magic for neurodivergent witches

...you’ll find something in my catalog that speaks to exactly where you are, right now.

  • No trees harmed

  • No shipping costs

  • No shelf space needed

Digital books are a great option if you're simplifying your life, living in a small space, or just want a low-clutter spiritual practice. And if you do want a physical version, you can always print out your favorite sections and build a binder or ritual journal of your own — totally custom, totally you.

A Book Is Good. A Book That Grows with You? That’s Magic.

Whether you’re brand-new to the path or refining your daily ritual, my eBooks are designed to walk with you, not lecture you. You can come back to them again and again — and every time, you’ll see something new, because you will be new.

3. 🎓 Self-Paced Classes

Whether I’m re-centering with meditation or exploring deeper ritual work, I always turn to structure when I feel scattered. That’s where my courses come in — they give me something to focus on, a new layer of practice, or a return to basics when life gets chaotic.

Let’s be real: not everyone can attend a live class at 7 p.m. on a Thursday under a full moon while Mercury is direct. Life doesn’t always work that way — and neither should your spiritual growth.

That’s why I created a full library of self-paced classes designed to meet you exactly where you are. No fluff, no forced schedules, no judgment. Just deep, honest teaching rooted in lived experience and real spiritual work.

🔥 What Makes These Classes Different?

My courses aren’t just rehashed slides and surface-level lessons. They’re built around transformation — and designed to help you move from “I don’t know where to start” to “This feels like home.”

You’ll find courses on:

  • Witchcraft 101 – Foundations for a grounded magical practice

  • Healing the Inner Child – Gentle shadow work through a spiritual lens

  • Working with Hecate – Devotional practices, crossroads wisdom, and path-opening rituals

  • Empath Empowerment – Protection, boundaries, and reclaiming your energy

Each class includes:

  • Downloadable content (PDFs, workbooks, meditations)

  • Rituals and exercises you can start immediately

  • Video/audio components when available

  • Lifetime access — revisit them anytime you need a refresh

✨ Why Self-Paced?

  • Because your magic unfolds on your timeline

  • You can go slow or dive deep

  • You can pause when life gets loud

  • You can skip what doesn’t resonate and focus on what hits your soul

This isn’t about checking boxes — it’s about building something that lasts. Your spiritual practice should work with your life, not against it.

Magic Doesn’t Belong on a Schedule — It Belongs to You.

Whether you’re reclaiming your power, healing from spiritual burnout, or just starting to explore your gifts, these classes are here to walk beside you.

They’re tools for growth, not boxes to tick.

Start with what feels good. Keep what keeps you grounded. Release the rest.

And if your daily magic includes a cup of tea and staring out the window — those counts.

🃏 Today’s Card Pull: Past

This card is a gentle tap on the shoulder: What did your practice used to look like? What beliefs, tools, or habits have you carried forward — and are they still serving you?

You don’t have to recreate your past. But you do get to honor it, and choose what continues.

Let it be a guide — not a prison.

Next week we’re diving into Lunar Magic and Manifestation, starting with a new moon ritual that clears the static and makes space for what you actually want.

And remember — every eBook, class, or deck you purchase helps stock the Blessing Box of Goldsboro, a community care project placing food and essentials at local crossroads.

Let wisdom, new beginnings, and creative expression shape your day.

Have a glorious day.

What Makes a Ritual Work? (Hint: It’s Not the Candle Brand)

Let’s get something out of the way — your ritual won’t fail just because your candle came from the clearance aisle. Magic isn’t about aesthetic perfection. It doesn't come from buying the right ribbons or bows or even the right brush for that hair magic spell. It’s about energetic precision.

Speaking of hair magic - if you're interested, I created a video talking about just that.

If you’ve ever asked yourself, “Am I doing this right?” — this one’s for you.

🔑 What Actually Makes a Ritual Work?

Forget the expensive tools. The real power comes from you. The three forces behind every successful ritual are:

  1. Belief – You must trust the process, even if it doesn’t look like what you saw on social media.

  1. Intention – Be clear about what you want to shift, release, or call in.

  1. Consistency – The more you practice, the more potent your results become.

You could light a birthday candle, speak your truth into the flame, and shift the entire course of your day — because your energy is the fuel. Your will is the spark.

Ritual as a Daily Anchor

Want to deepen your practice without the overwhelm?

Here are a few simple, effective rituals to anchor your day:

  1. Morning Intention-Setting: Speak your intention aloud while placing your feet on the ground. Bonus points if you do it with your morning brew.

  1. Daily Card Pull: Use one of my exclusive oracle decks to connect with the energy of the day. Explore the decks here.

The Shadow card shows up today not to spook you — but to spotlight what you've been avoiding.

It’s the stuff that lurks beneath the surface of your rituals and intentions. The fears you don’t voice. The habits you pretend are harmless. The parts of you that feel too much or not enough.

This card says: “Hey. Let’s not skip this step.”

Shadow work isn’t about wallowing. It’s about reclaiming. When you invite your shadow into your spiritual practice — when you give it a seat at the ritual — you stop letting it sabotage you in silence.

So ask yourself today:

What do I pretend not to feel when I do my spells?

What part of me is begging to be heard, not healed?

What power am I pushing away because it scares me?

Light your candle. Pull your card. But also—listen for the whisper beneath the flame.

You don’t need to banish your shadow. You need to walk with it.

Ritual isn't about performing magic — it's about becoming it. Every small, intentional act is a spell in motion.

So… what really makes a ritual work?

It’s not the candle, the chant, or the perfect moon phase.

It’s you — showing up. Intentionally. Authentically. Even when it’s messy.

Ritual works when you bring your full self to it — light and shadow alike. When you stop trying to perform magic and start becoming it. When you’re brave enough to name what’s hidden, and bold enough to keep going anyway.

The Shadow card reminds us that the most powerful rituals are the ones where we stop pretending and start participating — fully, fiercely, and without shame.

In our next post, I’ll share the three spiritual tools I use every single day to keep my practice grounded and meaningful. No fluff, no gatekeeping — just real tools that work.

And don’t forget — every purchase on ByHerFires.com helps support the Blessing Box of Goldsboro, bringing nourishment and care to those who need it most, right at the crossroads.

Let wisdom, new beginnings, and creative expression shape your day.

Have a glorious day. 🔥

Welcome to the Fire — How to Begin a Daily Witchcraft Practice

There’s something sacred about starting your day with intention. Whether it’s lighting a candle, drawing a card, or setting your space with a few deep breaths, these small acts set your energy in motion. If you're feeling the pull toward daily magic—but don’t know where to begin—you’re not alone.

Starting a daily witchcraft practice doesn’t have to be complicated. Think of it like lighting a spark. Every day, you feed the flame.

Here are 3 easy ways to begin today:

  1. Draw an Oracle Card: Start your day with insight. I pulled a card from the Crossroads Oracle deck to get you started. Let's see what insights we can glean.

Elemental Energy - Crossroads Oracle by Rev. Renee Sosanna Olson

The Elemental Energy card arrives like a pulse from the Earth itself, reminding us that we’re never separate from the forces around us. Air, fire, water, earth, and spirit — these aren’t just poetic metaphors. They are the raw, living codes of your reality.

This card asks:

Where are you in harmony? Where are you out of sync?

You may be feeling pulled in different directions lately — grounded one moment, scattered the next. That’s natural. But now is the time to pause and realign. Let the elements be your guides:

Air for clarity and ideas

Fire for motivation and action

Water for intuition and emotional flow

Earth for stability and embodiment

Spirit for inner knowing and divine connection

Whether you stir your tea with intention, walk barefoot in the grass, or light a single candle — these small acts attune you to your own elemental power.

Today, take one conscious step to connect with at least one element. Let it anchor you, guide you, and reawaken what may have gone quiet inside.

My two exclusive oracle decks are crafted to speak directly to your intuition. Explore the decks here.

  1. Take a Class: Want structure and community? My classes offer spiritual development that fits your schedule. From beginner witchcraft to sound healing, there’s something for every path. Browse courses here.

We'll be back soon with our next post in this magical series, where we’ll explore the power behind ritual and what really makes a spell work (hint: it’s not the candle brand). Don’t miss it — your practice deserves to evolve with intention.

Torchbearer & Keybearer - Covenant of Hekate

Mindful Movement: Connecting Body and Spirit Through Rituals

As July’s warmth envelops us, it’s the perfect time to embrace the connection between our bodies and spirits through mindful movement. Movement is more than just physical exercise—it’s a way to align your energy, focus your intentions, and deepen your spiritual practice. For those devoted to Hecate, mindful movement can be a powerful way to honor her guidance, balancing the physical, mental, and spiritual realms.

Hecate is a goddess of crossroads, transitions, and balance. She teaches us to integrate all aspects of our being, harmonizing the physical body with our spiritual and emotional selves. By incorporating movement into your rituals, you can create a dynamic connection with her energy, opening pathways to personal transformation and inner peace.

Yoga as Ritual: Yoga offers a sacred space to unite breath, body, and intention. Incorporate poses like Warrior (to honor courage) and Tree Pose (to connect with balance and growth). Dedicate your practice to Hecate, visualizing her torch guiding you through each flow.

Walking Meditations: Whether in a park, forest, or quiet neighborhood, walking mindfully connects you to the earth. With each step, imagine grounding yourself deeper into Hecate’s wisdom. Pause at crossroads or pathways to reflect on her presence and guidance.

Dance of the Spirit: Freeform movement or structured dance can be a joyful offering to Hecate. Light candles to represent her torches and dance to music that resonates with her energy. Let your movements reflect the light and shadow within.

Sacred Strength Training: Transform strength-based exercises into a ritual of empowerment. Visualize Hecate infusing you with courage and determination as you lift, stretch, or engage your muscles.

Ritual for Mindful Movement

Create Your Space: Choose a quiet area where you can move freely. Light a candle for Hecate and place a small offering such as lavender, rosemary, or a piece of moonstone.

Set Your Intention: Begin with a short meditation. Focus on aligning your body, mind, and spirit, and call upon Hecate to guide your practice.

Engage in Movement: Choose a form of movement—yoga, walking, or dance—and immerse yourself in the flow. Focus on your breath, the sensations in your body, and the energy around you.

Close with Reflection: After your movement, sit quietly and reflect on how your body feels and the connection you experienced. Thank Hecate for her guidance.

Mindful movement has wonderful effects on your well-being:

  • Physical Health: Builds strength, flexibility, and stamina.

  • Mental Clarity: Reduces stress and fosters focus.

  • Spiritual Connection: Deepens your alignment with divine energy and intentions.

A Blessing for Movement

"Hecate, guide of body and soul,

Align my steps with your wisdom’s goal.

Through movement and breath, I honor thee,

A dance of spirit, wild and free."

This July, let movement become a sacred act of connection. Whether it’s a slow walk under the moonlight or an energetic dance in the sun, honor your body as a vessel of divine energy. Hecate’s presence is with you, guiding each step and movement as you align your physical and spiritual worlds.

May your journey be filled with grace, energy, and joy. Have a glorious day!
