Throwing Thursday - Bottles, Jars & Lamps ... OH MY

So this throw I decided to start working on a new item.  On the full moon in May, I celebrate the Rite of Her Sacred Fires.  I thought what a great way to celebrate but with my own handmade oil lamp.

Here are a few of my latest creations.

I had a small bit of clay left so I thought I'd try to make a jar out of it.

These are some custom order diz.  A diz is a tool used to create yarn stands from fiber on a hackle.  It was my first time ever trying this type of thing. I had to order a special stand to fire them.  I love the way they turned out in the leather hard stage.  Next will be bisque fire.

Throwing Thursday - Votive & Sculpture

Weeks of Throwing and drying and still here I am with more pots to throw.  Thus far the goddess I threw about two weeks ago is nearly dry.  I have about two - three more weeks and we should be ready to bisque.

A few more burners were created last night and are now waiting to fire with her.

Tart Warmers, Spirit Jars and Incense Burners-Off the Wheel

So I ended up losing 2 of the pots that I made yesterday.  Here they are cut off the bats and drying. Once they are bone dry we'll get started on the bisque fire.

Throwing Thursday - Pots, Pigs and Plates

I'm still working on my pots, pigs and plates.  I saw a bird feeder in a store a few days ago so I thought I'd try that too.  Those are the Hershey Kiss shaped pots below.

Throwing Thursday - Mistakes

Sometimes when I think something is going really really well, it ends up being the opposite.  I did manage to salvage a few of these pieces but this is what happens sometimes.

Clay Molds

This week I spent a bit of time working with clay molds and presses.  Some turned out ok, others, not so much.  Here's what I ended up with.
